Digital Europe Programme 2025-2026: How to Verify Calls and Apply

How to find official Digital Europe topics and verify their status, budgets, deadlines and eligibility before preparing an application.

Digital Europe Programme: Overview

The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is the EU's flagship programme for digital transformation. With a EUR 7.5 billion budget for 2021-2027, it funds deployment and best use of digital technologies across five strategic areas:

1. High Performance Computing — supercomputer access and quantum computing

2. Artificial Intelligence — AI testing and experimentation facilities

3. Cybersecurity — EU cybersecurity capacity and infrastructure

4. Advanced Digital Skills — specialist training for the digital workforce

5. Deployment and Best Use — digital public services, healthcare, transport

Who Can Apply?

Unlike Horizon Europe which funds research, Digital Europe funds deployment and scaling of existing technologies. This makes it particularly relevant for:

- Companies that have already developed AI or cybersecurity solutions

- Public administrations seeking to digitise services

- Organisations running digital skills training programmes

- SMEs participating in European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs)

Finding Official Calls for 2026

Verify Each Official Topic Before Applying

AI, data spaces, cybersecurity and digital skills are programme areas, not sufficient identifiers for an open call. The previously listed topic identifiers and budgets could not be verified in the official topic-details service and should not be used for application planning.

Use the official Digital Europe work programmes and the Funding & Tenders Portal to identify an actual topic. Check its identifier, opening status, deadline, topic budget, grant conditions and eligible applicants. A topic's total budget is not necessarily the maximum grant for an individual applicant, and a 2026 reference does not mean the call is still open.

The European Digital Innovation Hub Connection

Greece's EDIHs — including EDIH AEGIS, EDIH SERRES, and others — play a crucial role in helping SMEs access Digital Europe Programme support. If your company is considering Digital Europe funding, engaging with your regional EDIH is the recommended first step.

How INTERALTER Supports Digital Europe Applications

Our team has experience with consortium building for DIGITAL calls, technical proposal writing for AI and cybersecurity calls, EDIH coordination and SME support documentation, and budget preparation for complex multi-partner projects.

The Digital Europe Programme has stricter pre-qualification requirements than Horizon Europe — national coordination is often required. Contact us early in the process to ensure your application meets all eligibility criteria.
